Pelindo Helps Indonesian MSMEs Export Products to Brunei

The shipment, valued at 238 million rupiah, includes five Indonesian products and marks a step in Pelindo’s efforts to expand small businesses’ access to international markets.

Indonesian port operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) has facilitated the export of products made by a micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to Brunei Darussalam, as part of efforts to expand market access for local businesses.

The shipment from PT Alam Scientia Asia comprises one 20-foot container valued at 238 million rupiah ($14,000), containing black garlic, moringa, red ginger, granola and noni juice, Pelindo said on Wednesday.

The export was conducted under Gedor Ekspor, or the Export Promotion Movement, a programme within Pelindo’s Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) initiatives aimed at developing micro and small enterprises.

Usman Saroni, Pelindo’s group head of corporate sustainability, said the shipment demonstrated the potential of Indonesian small businesses to compete in international markets.

He said maintaining export growth would depend on consistent product quality, the ability to meet market requirements and building consumer trust.

“The challenge does not end with the first successful export; it lies in maintaining quality, product continuity, and market trust,” Usman said.

Pelindo said its support for small businesses extends beyond training and mentoring to include product promotion, business networking and assistance in preparing enterprises to enter wider markets.

The company aims to help its supported businesses strengthen their operational capacity and gain access to supply chains and cross-border trade.

The shipment to Brunei is expected to provide a foundation for PT Alam Scientia Asia to pursue additional overseas markets. Pelindo said it would continue working with stakeholders to strengthen the capacity of its partner businesses and expand opportunities for Indonesian products abroad.
