IPCC Ship Calls Rise 15.33% Through August

Indonesia’s largest car terminal operator handled more ships and higher cargo volumes through August, driven by stronger activity at satellite terminals and growth in vehicle logistics demand

PT Indonesia Kendaraan Terminal Tbk (IPCC), Indonesia’s largest car (vehicle) terminal operator and a subsidiary of PT Pelindo Multi Terminal, recorded a 15.33% year-on-year increase in ship calls through August 2026, supported by higher activity across its satellite terminals.

IPCC handled 2,595 ship calls on a consolidated basis through August, up from 2,250 in the same period a year earlier.

Completely Built Up (CBU) vehicle traffic rose 1.56% to 607,196 units from 597,871 units a year earlier, according to the company.

Other cargo segments also recorded increases. Heavy equipment traffic rose 5.76% to 22,648 units from 21,415 units, while truck and bus traffic jumped 44.29% to 213,689 units from 148,101 units.

General cargo traffic more than doubled to 173,697 packages, an increase of 114.03% from 81,154 packages in the same period last year.

The company said the consolidated increase was primarily driven by higher activity at its satellite terminals, while its Jakarta Branch International Terminal continued to face pressure in the import segment.

CBU export activity, however, remained resilient, IPCC said, as the company seeks to increase cargo traffic at its Jakarta terminal while optimizing the contribution of its satellite network.

The performance comes as Indonesia’s automotive industry expands. Data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Manufacturers (GAIKINDO) showed national CBU production reached 859,256 units from January to August 2026, up 13.44% year on year.

IPCC handled 607,196 CBU units during the same period, representing a 1.56% increase from a year earlier.

“Traffic growth across our operational regions highlights the increasing importance of integrating the Jakarta Branch and satellite terminals to support the national vehicle logistics chain,” President Director Wing Megantoro said.

“We will continue to enhance service quality, operational capabilities and inter-terminal synergy to respond more adaptively to customer needs and automotive industry developments,” he said.

IPCC plans to continue its operational and business transformation by strengthening resources, improving service quality, expanding digitalization and optimizing its terminal network, Megantoro said. The company aims to develop a more integrated vehicle-terminal network as it seeks to improve efficiency and respond to changes in the automotive industry.
