The Pelindo Group subsidiary is integrating financial strategy, fleet technology and sustainability initiatives to improve efficiency and create long-term business value
PT Jasa Armada Indonesia Tbk (IPCM), a maritime services company and member of the Pelindo Group, is seeking to broaden the role of corporate finance by linking financial decisions with operational efficiency, technological innovation and sustainability.
The company’s approach was recognized at the fourth Indonesia Most Innovative CFO Award 2026, organized by The Iconomics, where Dessy Emastari Prihatiningtyas, IPCM’s director of finance, human resources and risk management, received an award on October 15.
The ceremony was held at the Margono Djojohadikoesoemo Auditorium at Indonesia’s Ministry of Cooperatives.
For IPCM, the recognition reflects an effort to reposition the chief financial officer’s role beyond financial reporting and cost control towards a broader mandate focused on creating value across the business.
“The future of the finance function is not merely about managing numbers, but about creating truly meaningful value,” Dessy said. “This award is a testament to the collective efforts of everyone at IPCM in fostering innovation and continuous improvement.”
The shift, which the company describes as a transition from chief financial officer (CFO) to chief value officer (CVO), connects financial management with decisions about technology, fleet utilization, risk and environmental performance.
One example is IPCM’s adoption of shore connections, harbour generators, solar panels and inverter and hybrid technology across its fleet. These measures are intended to optimize energy consumption, manage operating costs and support the development of greener port operations.
Shore connections allow vessels to use electricity supplied from shore while alongside, potentially reducing the need to run onboard generators during port stays. Solar panels and hybrid technologies can provide additional options for managing energy use, depending on vessel configuration and operating conditions.
Alongside these technological investments, IPCM is focusing on fleet utilization, operational planning and resource management to improve productivity and maintain the reliability of its vessel pilotage and towage services.
The approach highlights the connection between financial discipline and day-to-day maritime operations, where energy consumption, vessel deployment and service reliability can affect operating costs and overall performance.
IPCM said it aims to integrate financial decision-making with operational and sustainability priorities to strengthen its competitiveness and deliver long-term value for shareholders and other stakeholders.
The company added that it remained committed to providing safe, reliable and professional maritime services while pursuing more sustainable operating practices.
