Terminal Teluk Lamong, OOCL Strengthen Cooperation on Eastern Logistics

Terminal Teluk Lamong and OOCL discussed operations, service development and technology as Surabaya seeks to strengthen its role as a logistics hub for Eastern Indonesia

PT Terminal Teluk Lamong (TTL) and shipping company OOCL discussed ways to strengthen terminal services and logistics connectivity in Eastern Indonesia during a meeting in Surabaya on Sept. 17.

The meeting brought together Karen Lam, Regional Group General Manager ASNG at OOCL, Aaron Chen, Regional General Manager for Indonesia, and Samsuar, OOCL’s Surabaya Branch Manager. They were received by TTL President Director David Pandapotan Sirait and members of the terminal’s management team.

The discussions covered terminal operations, service developments, trends in the shipping and logistics industries, and opportunities to support OOCL’s future service requirements.

“Close relationships with shipping lines are a crucial foundation for delivering services that are reliable, responsive and aligned with the needs of our service users,” David said.

He said TTL would continue to improve its operational capabilities, service quality and use of technology to support trade flows and logistics connectivity through Surabaya.

Lam said Surabaya had potential to play a greater role in supporting logistics connectivity, particularly in Eastern Indonesia.

“Surabaya has the potential to be further developed as a hub port for Eastern Indonesia,” Lam said, adding that the city could provide an alternative to Jakarta and Semarang as logistics networks develop.

The OOCL delegation also toured TTL’s Integrated Planning and Control Room (IP&C) at the Teluk Lamong Container Terminal. The facility provides real-time monitoring of terminal operations, including the performance of automated stacking cranes in the container yard.

“We were impressed by TTL’s Integrated Planning and Control Room, which enables real-time monitoring of operations,” Lam said.

TTL said the integrated planning and control system forms part of its operational transformation aimed at improving terminal management, supporting cargo handling and providing greater visibility into service processes.

The company said it would continue working with shipping lines and other service users to improve service quality, develop operational capabilities and expand the use of technology.

The cooperation is also intended to support the development of Surabaya’s role in national trade and logistics connectivity, particularly for Eastern Indonesia.
