PJM Takes Part in House Review of Makassar Port Services

A delegation from Commission V of Indonesia’s House of Representatives visited Soekarno-Hatta Port in Makassar on Sept. 18 to review the readiness of port facilities, infrastructure and transportation services.

PT Pelindo Jasa Maritim (PJM), PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo), and Pelindo Regional 4 management took part in hosting the delegation as part of efforts to coordinate port services in Makassar.

The delegation was led by Commission V Deputy Chairman Andi Iwan Darmawan Aras and included commission member Hamka B. Kady.

They were received by Pelindo Risk Management Director Boy Robyanto, Pelindo Regional 4 Executive Director Abdul Azis, PJM President Director Arief Hermawan and other Pelindo Group executives responsible for operations in Makassar.

The visit also included Director of Port Affairs Muhammad Anto Julianto and Jon Kenedi, head of the Makassar Port Authority and Harbormaster Office KSOP.

Safety, security and service quality were among the main issues discussed during the visit, which provided an opportunity for lawmakers, port operators and regulators to review facility readiness and port services.

PJM Corporate Secretary Tubagus Patrick Tribudi Utama Iskandar said pilotage and towage were important parts of vessel operations, supporting the safe berthing and departure of ships.

“PT PJM is committed to supporting safe, reliable, and efficient vessel services through operational readiness, personnel competence, and close coordination with all stakeholders,” Iskandar said.

He said the visit could strengthen coordination among stakeholders to improve port services and maritime connectivity in eastern Indonesia.

“Improvements in service quality must be accompanied by the implementation of safety measures and risk management at every operational stage,” Iskandar said.

PJM provides pilotage, towage and other maritime support services within the Pelindo Group. The company said coordination with Pelindo, regulators and other stakeholders was intended to maintain operational readiness and support the movement of goods through the port.

The Makassar visit forms part of broader efforts to strengthen port services and maritime connectivity in South Sulawesi and eastern Indonesia, PJM said.
