ABUPI, GAPASDAP Sign Partnership to Improve Connectivity

Indonesia’s port and ferry transport associations signed a partnership to strengthen coordination, exchange industry expertise and support improvements in connectivity and transport services nationwide

The Indonesian Port Business Association (ABUPI) and the Association of River, Lake and Ferry Transport Operators (GAPASDAP) have signed a partnership to strengthen cooperation between Indonesia’s port and inland water transport sectors.

The agreement was signed on Wednesday (September 16) during the ABUPI Consolidation Forum in Jakarta and was attended by executives and members of both associations.

The partnership is intended to improve coordination, information sharing and cooperation between businesses operating in the port and river, lake and ferry transport sectors, the associations said.

ABUPI Chairperson Liana Trisnawati said the two sectors were closely connected in supporting regional connectivity and the movement of goods.

“We view the port sector and the river, lake, and ferry transport sector as being closely linked in supporting connectivity and the smooth flow of logistics distribution,” Liana said.

She said the partnership would provide a platform for the associations to exchange experience and work together to improve services and connectivity between regions.

GAPASDAP Chairperson Khoiri Soetomo welcomed the agreement, saying cooperation between industry associations could strengthen communication and support the development of an integrated transport system.

The partnership will also facilitate the exchange of information, experience and ideas between members of the two associations, the groups said.

River, lake and ferry transport services play a role in passenger mobility and goods distribution across Indonesia, while ports facilitate the movement of goods and support logistics activity.

The associations said they would continue coordinating on industry challenges and opportunities, with the partnership focused on cooperation and information exchange between businesses in the two sectors.
