Container and Non-Container Transport Costs in Indonesia Increase Up To 30% After Fuel Adjustment

Container truck business actors throughout Indonesia Members of the Special Port Transport Organda (Angsuspel) and the Indonesian Truck Entrepreneurs Association (Aptrindo) are raising the cost of container and non-container transportation by 17 to 30%.

They did this following increased subsidized fuel (diesel) from IDR 5,150 to IDR 6,800 starting September 3, 2022.

Chairman of Organda Angsuspel Panjang Fahruddin Tandjung, Chairman of Indonesian Logistics and Forwarders Association (ALFI) Lampung, H. A. Zamzani, and Chairman of GINSI and GPEI Lampung, M. Yusuf Kohar, signed an agreement to increase container transportation costs to and from Panjang Port By 17%.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Aptrindo, Gemilang Tarigan, through his letter to members throughout Indonesia, decided to increase it by 21-25 percent.

“Small trucks (4 tires) rose 21%, medium trucks (6 tires) rose 23%, and large trucks (6 more tires) increased 25%,” said Tarigan as quoted by Oceanweek.co.id.

Meanwhile, at the Tanjung Emas Port in Semarang, Organda Angsuspel agreed to increase the tariff by 25-30 percent.

“We leave it to each company regarding the implementation by referring to the predetermined percentage,” said Purwo Widodo, Chairperson of the Tanjung Emas Special Investigation Organda in Semarang.

The same thing was also done by the Organda Angsuspel Tanjung Perak Surabaya. “In Tanjung Perak, it also rose 24 percent,” said Kody Lamahayu, Head of the Tanjung Perak Surabaya Special Investigation Committee to the press.

The increased truck fare has been implemented starting on September 4, 2022, after the announcement of the increase in fuel prices by President Jokowi.

“Now the cost from Priok (Jakarta) to Karawang is usually IDR 1.3 million, so (now) IDR 1.5 million, it’s a medium car,” said Ajat, a truck service user in Tanjung Priok quoted by Oceanweek.co.id.

Chairman of the Association of Indonesian Express, Postal, and Logistics Delivery Service Companies (Asperindo), M. Feriadi, also recommended that its members increase shipping service rates by at least 25%.

This decision was taken after a meeting on September 6, 2022 by the DDP Asperindo. In his written statement, Asperindo emphasized that all companies implement ASPERINDO’s DPP decisions.

This increase has triggered the price of goods, especially nine basic commodities (Sembako).
