Training for 35 pilots is part of a 2026 program covering 170 Level I and II pilots to maintain competence and support safe vessel movements
PT Pelindo Jasa Maritim (PJM) held its fourth pilot certificate endorsement training program for Level I and II marine pilots as part of efforts to maintain professional competence and safety standards.
The three-day program, held from Sept. 16-18 at PT Pendidikan Maritim dan Logistik Indonesia (PMLI) in Ciawi, Bogor, involved 35 pilots from PJM’s four operational regions.
The program, organized with PMLI, is part of a pilot endorsement series that began in April and forms part of PJM’s ongoing training and development program for marine pilots.
“Pilots play a vital role in ensuring the safety and smooth movement of vessels,” PJM Corporate Secretary Tubagus Patrick Tribudi Utama Iskandar said.
“Through this ongoing endorsement program, we aim to ensure that our pilots consistently possess the competence and readiness to perform their duties professionally, with safety as the top priority,” he said.

Pilotage requires knowledge of local waterways, precision in vessel movements and adherence to safety procedures, PJM said.
The company’s 2026 endorsement program is scheduled to cover 170 pilots, comprising 159 Level I pilots and 11 Level II pilots, across five batches.
PJM said the phased training schedule is intended to support competency development while maintaining staffing requirements across its operational regions. Participant schedules are coordinated with local operational management to avoid disruptions to vessel services.
“We are committed to the continuous development of our human resources,” Iskandar said. “Maintaining pilot competence serves as the foundation for delivering safe, reliable, and efficient services while upholding the trust of our service users.”
PJM said the program is also aligned with the directives of Danantara Indonesia, which manages and drives the transformation of state-owned enterprises.
PJM, part of the Pelindo Group, said strengthening pilot competence would support the safety and reliability of pilotage services and the movement of national logistics.
