Pelindo Regional 2 Banten has opened the wharf area at Ciwandan Port to a Basarnas search-and-rescue vessel as a joint team searches for a group of journalists who lost contact while covering activities near Mount Anak Krakatau in the Sunda Strait.
The port operator is making the facility available to the KN SAR 247 Tetuka, a Basarnas vessel involved in the search operation, Pelindo Regional 2 Banten Acting General Manager Achmad Yoga Suryadarma said.
“We at Pelindo Regional 2 Banten are supporting the search efforts undertaken by the joint SAR team. We are making the wharf area at Ciwandan Port available to support the operations of the KN SAR 247 Tetuka during its search mission,” Yoga said.
Pelindo Banten is also coordinating activities within the port area to ensure the vessel’s operational requirements can be met in accordance with applicable regulations and conditions in the field, the company said.
The joint search operation involves multiple personnel and vessels and is focused on locating the journalists, who remain unaccounted for in waters near Mount Anak Krakatau.
Yoga also expressed concern for the missing journalists and their families.
“We offer our heartfelt prayers for the entire group of journalists and their families who are currently awaiting news. We hope the search operation proceeds smoothly, that the entire group is found safe and sound, and that the waiting families are granted strength,” he said.
The search operation remains ongoing.
