The whole business world is being transformed by new technologies and this one, in particular, is no exception. Digitalization is inevitable, unavoidable.

A lot has changed in this industry. Manual services have been starting to transform into automated port terminals, autonomous ships, freight benchmarking services, proposals of a floating warehouse, even drones being used for cargo deliveries. Not mentioned about all of the soft wares developed to automize and optimize companies’ operations.

Digitalization makes business more flexible, faster, safer, and efficient. Digitalization makes customers can work anytime and from anywhere (flexible). Digitalization creates faster coordination, document process, and cargo delivery. Digitalization makes business safer as data uploaded can be verified under a single system, and digitalization for customers makes business more efficient as it will reduce costs. In addition, for logistics, forwarding, and related transportation business entities, including terminal players, digitalization will make them more productive. As an operator of Indonesia’s leading container terminal, handling over 40% of Indonesia’s international containerized trade, Jakarta International Container Terminal realizes and understands the trend of business digitalization. And, to satisfy its customers and to coherent with its customer’s trend in digitalization, JICT has been continuing to run programs for terminal digitalization.

JICT President Director Ade Hartono

“We all must agree digitalization is inevitable, a way of doing our business. In responding to this, JICT has taken some programs of digitalization and will continue to do it,” JICT President Director Ade Hartono once said in a discussion with Indonesia Shipping Gazette.

Some digital programs that have been running in JICT include auto-gate, digital-based transaction payment, and some other technology Innovation and Technology Applications. JICT even has proven it through some awards as the Best Innovation and Technology Application in the country.

Soon, JICT will launch another digital-based system of JICT Appointment System for Truck – JASforT. This JASforT is provided to help trucking companies to get easier service in Lift On and Lift Off (LoLo) service at the terminal. The JASforT can be accessed by trucking companies for booking LoLo services before departure to the Terminal.

This system will also reduce service density at the terminal at a certain time (at night) as the JASforT will make the service process more flexible time after truckers make order bookings earlier. The system is built to separate receiving/delivery activities so that they are not concentrated at one particular time.

“Surely, this JASforT will give benefits to shipping lines, trucking companies, related business, and terminal operators, of course,” Ade Hartono said.

Comprehensive Logistics Service Solution

“JICT’s commitment is to provide easy service to users. If so far, they (service users) know JICT as a container terminal loading and unloading container only, now we want to introduce JICT more than that. We want to offer a more comprehensive logistics service solution. If service users choose JICT, then they will get services that are more than just loading and unloading at the dock. They also get other services relating to trucking activities,” Ade Hartono explained further.

Other benefits the service users can get from the JASforT include faster TRT, congestion reduction in the port area, more optimal loading and unloading services. In addition, this JASforT will certainly reduce trucking operational costs.

“Besides JASforT, JICT is also preparing various logistics and operational services through applications. We want to increase customer satisfaction. With the support and cooperation of various parties, service users will get end-to-end services at the JICT Terminal,” Ade Hartono said.
