The Statistics Indonesia (BPS) has reported that the United States maintains its position as the primary destination for non-oil and gas commodity exports from Central Java throughout 2023.
Arjuliwondo, Deputy Expert Statistician of BPS Central Java, revealed in a press statement on Wednesday that the total value of non-oil and gas exports from Central Java to the United States during the period of January to September 2023 reached an impressive $2,707.7 million.
In addition to the United States, he noted that Japan and China also stand out as key destinations for exports from Central Java. “Exports from Central Java to these three countries account for approximately 53.39% of the total export value,” Arjuliwondo stated.
The total value of non-oil and gas exports from Central Java in 2023 amounted to $7,315.5 million. Arjuliwondo emphasized that the manufacturing industry was the major contributor, accounting for approximately 94% of the total export value from Central Java in 2023.
Regarding imports, he highlighted China as the leading source of commodities entering Central Java in 2023. The total value of non-oil and gas imports from China amounted to $2,501.4 million. Alongside China, the United States and Thailand were among the top commodity origins with Central Java as their destination.
Arjuliwondo explained that raw materials and intermediaries were the primary commodities imported to Central Java in 2023, with a total value reaching $9,742.9 million.
He reported that the total value of Central Java’s exports throughout 2023 was $7,610 million. Meanwhile, the total value of imports to Central Java during the same period amounted to $12,328.3 million.
With this trade scenario, Arjuliwondo noted that Central Java continues to experience a trade deficit of $2,885.6 million.
