Tanjung Priok Port Posts Container Steady Growth in 2025, to 8.30 million TEUs

Indonesia’s busiest port, Tanjung Priok, posted solid operational performance in 2025, maintaining stable vessel traffic and recording growth in cargo handling despite ongoing challenges in national logistics flows, according to port operator Pelindo.

From January through December 30, Pelindo Regional 2 Tanjung Priok recorded 14,163 vessel calls, equivalent to 149.95 million gross tonnage (GT), a level broadly in line with the previous year.

Pelindo attributed this strong performance to operational improvements made throughout the year, including better ship and cargo flow management, enhanced reliability of port facilities, and service upgrades at passenger terminals. Close coordination with port authorities, terminal operators, and logistics users also helped maintain smooth and safe operations.

2025 Operational Highlights

The data underscores Tanjung Priok’s vital role as the country’s main logistics gateway. Key performance metrics for 2025 include:

  • Container Throughput: Reached 8.30 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs)—or approximately 5.69 million boxes—marking a notable increase from 2024.
  • Non-Containerized Cargo: Climbed to a total of 21.51 million tonnes.
  • Vehicle Throughput: Reached approximately 860,000 units.
  • Passenger Movements: Stood at 492,826 passengers.

Marking Year-End and New-Year Ship Calls

As the year drew to a close, Pelindo Regional 2 Tanjung Priok marked the final vessel call of 2025 and welcomed the first ship of 2026 in a ceremony held at the Tanjung Priok Harbormaster and Port Authority (KSOP) office in Jakarta.

The event celebrated the departure of the KM Tanto Salam as the last vessel of 2025, and the arrival of the KM Tanto Saudara as the first vessel of the new year. Pelindo presented commemorative souvenirs to the ship captains as a gesture of appreciation for their cooperation.

Additionally, Pelindo distributed food packages to trailer drivers who continued operating ahead of the New Year, recognizing their essential role in keeping Indonesia’s supply chains running.

The ceremony was attended by senior port officials, including the Head of Tanjung Priok KSOP, Heru Susanto, and Pelindo Regional 2 executives.

“We appreciate the trust and cooperation of all stakeholders throughout 2025,” said Yandri Tri Saputra, Executive General Manager of Pelindo Regional 2 Tanjung Priok. “We hope to further strengthen synergy and performance in 2026.”
