Ocean Network Express (ONE) claims a record by completing the loading of the highest number of containers on a single vessel. The record was broken by ONE Integrity, loaded with 21,954 TEUs when departing from the Port of Singapore around November 11-12, 2023. Operating on the F3 route from China, Taiwan, and Singapore to Northern European ports, this achievement stands out amidst a decline in shipping volumes.
Previously, Evergreen’s Ever Ace set a record on August 14, 2021, with 21,710 TEUs from a Chinese port, and CMA CGM Jacques Saade achieved 21,433 TEUs departing from the Port of Singapore on April 8, 2021. While these figures may be considered relative due to variations in container sizes, ONE takes pride in this accomplishment, aiming to showcase its strength in an industry experiencing overcapacity.
The recently delivered vessels, ONE Innovation and ONE Integrity, belonging to the Ultra Large Container Vessels (ULCVs) class, have a cargo capacity of 24,136 TEU, slightly smaller than ULCVs owned by OOCL and MSC. These vessels incorporate innovations to enhance fuel efficiency and cargo handling, such as the Bow Wind Cover allowing container loading on the mooring deck within the Wind Cover, thus improving fuel efficiency and loading performance.
Yuji Otsuka, Senior Vice President of Global Vessel Operations at ONE, emphasizes that this achievement is a result of close collaboration among ONE teams. It’s not just about the numbers but also about efficiently supporting customer cargo transportation while reducing CO2 emissions.
